About the group:
The group is aimed at providing a forum for deliberating cases and matters of interest in the field of forensic psychiatry and mental health ethics.

Some of the meetings will be held in conjunction with the meetings of the Harvard Medical School Program in Psychiatry and the Law with a live feed connecting the 2 groups and allowing international discussions of current matters.

The Harvard meetings are held at 75 Fenwood Road, Massachusetts.

Topics of interest:

  • Legal competence, wills and contracts

  • Durable power of attorney

  • Rights of Persons with Mental Disabilities

  • Ulysses contracts

  • Religious approaches to mental health patients.

  • Ethical dilemmas in psychotherapy competence to stand trial

  • Ethics codes in mental health

  • Involvement of mental health providers in the media

Meetings:

Wednesdays, 6pm - 7pm during both semesters, according to a meetings schedule that would be published among the participants. 

Location: Steyer School of Health Professions, Tel Aviv University.

Participants:

Mental Health Care Professionals, Faculty - by invitation or pre-registration (pending approval).

Tal Bergman-Levy

Dr. Tal Bergman graduated in medicine from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion. She completed her specialization in adult psychiatry and served as a senior physician at the Beer Yaakov Mental Health Center, where she advanced the field of forensic psychiatry, and established the Ambulatory Forensic Psychiatry Unit. She later directed the Forensic Psychiatry Department at the Maximal Security Division of the “Sha’ar Menashe” Mental Health Center.

Oren Asman

Dr. Oren Asman is a lawyer and a bioethicist. Nursing Department,  at the Tel Aviv University. Executive Vice President of the World Association for Medical Law since 2014. His current research subjects are nursing and mental health ethics.​
